Antrim Choral society wishes to appoint a new Conductor/Musical director to start in January 2026 in a paid role.
Founded in 1975, Antrim Choral Society is a SATB choir of around 40 singers who rehearse on Tuesday evenings in Parkhall Integrated College in Antrim.
We are seeking a professional musician to replace our successful, outgoing Musical Director. The ideal candidate will have experience of leading choirs and be able to vocally coach singers of varying skill levels. Excellent communication and organisation skills (e.g. with resident accompanist) and ability to create an enjoyable and inclusive rehearsal environment are essential.
We currently sing a wide range of music, both classical and secular, and yearly we present two concerts, seeking to add variety by collaborating with other musicians in the area.
Our most recent concert in April 2025 celebrated 50 years of the Choral Society and featured pieces from Mozart, Whittaker, Rheinburger, Rutter, Queen and Simon and Garfunklel.
Other composers featured in the past few years include Faure, Handel, Haydn, Pergolesi, Vivaldi and Stainer.
Antrim Choral Society has built up a substantial music library and we seek to develop our repertoire further by hiring a musical director/conductor who has a keen interest in arranging their own peaces.
We are fortunatte in having a very capable accompanist and to have received a grant from the Enkalon Foundation for our 2024-2025 season.
