Assistant Musical Director/Accompanist Vacancy

Morley Music Society (MMS) is recruiting an Assistant Musical Director/Accompanist (dependent on experience) for September 2020. Our current Accompanist is retiring at the end of our 77th season to dedicate more time to his full-time career.

MMS is Morley’s Mixed Voice Choral Society of around fifty singers, founded in 1943. We perform three main concerts each year: Autumn, Christmas and Spring, singing a wide range of repertoire.  There is also a variety of other social and special events held throughout the season.

Double Bass

The FSO is looking to recruit good players to join its regular bass section.  We are a very friendly orchestra giving 4 concerts a year in major concert venues in the Hampshire / Surrey borders and rehearse every Thursday evening in Farnborough.  Our repertoire is very varied so there is something for everyone, and basses are an extremely valued part of the team!  More details and how to apply can be found here.

Viola and other strings

We are a very friendly amateur orchestra based in Oxfordshire.  We would love to have some more viola players - also other string players.

We rehearse weekly at Langtree School, Woodcote. Auditions are not required.

Please go to our website for information.

Tenor Horn players

Vacancy for Eb Tenor Horn players. All welcome.

No problem if you are a bit 'rusty' - we also have a training section that provides a stress-free way to

return to playing.

Trumpet, Sax, Bass, Drummer

One of Room 21 Big Band's initiatives across 2020 is to encourage players to dust down their instruments and join the band at rehearsals (and future gigs) to experience the joy of playing and performing in a big band environment. If you fancy joining the band at a rehearsal please contact us and we will send you details. We are especially keen to hear from trumpets. sax players (alto and tenor), bass (string or keyboard) and drummers.

Fourth Horn Player

We are actively seeking a horn player to come and join the orchestra as 4th horn.  Players should be Grade 7 standard minimum, as we choose fantastic but often challenging repertoire.  Ideally, applicants should already have significant playing experience in a large symphony orchestra. We meet regularly throughout the year on Monday evenings and regular attendance is desired.  We give 4 concerts each year.  Find out more about us here: www.gos.org.uk

Double Bass player

Marlborough Concert Orchestra plays light music and popular classics. Led by its professional Italian conductor it has entertaining and productive rehearsals on Tuesday evenings, leading to three exciting concerts per year.

Due to retirement there is a vacancy for a double bass player who can play to at least Grade 6 standard.  For more information please see the Join Us page on our website (www.mco.org.uk) or contact our secretary, Sue Choules, on mco_secretary@mco.org.uk

Percussionist

Slinfold Concert Band is a busy & popular Band based near Horsham in West Sussex. Our excellent principal percussion player has, unfortunately, decided to move on so a replacement is urgently needed.  You must be a music reader, & available on Tuesday evenings.  Interested?  See our website for more details.

Brass players - especially horns, trombones

Peebles Concert Band are a friendly, non-competing community wind band in the Scottish Borders, on the look out for all types of brass players to balance all the woodwind we have! Weekly rehearsals on a Wednesday evening in Peebles, and performing several concerts a year.

Violinists and Violists

SARO has a few vacancies for proficient violinists and viola players to join its String Section.  Both 1st and 2nd violins are required.  The orchestra meets on Wednesday mornings during term time from 10.00am until noon and usually includes an outreach visit to a local school and an end of term 'Play to Family & Friends'.
