Tackling barriers to access and inclusion (online event)

Creating an event or activity that is accessible, welcoming and inclusive of everyone starts with one big question: what are the barriers that would exclude someone from taking part? People who experience barriers to making and enjoying music are more likely to be disabled, from an ethnic minority, have a mental or physical health condition or be in challenging socio-economic circumstances. How can you identify the barriers that exclude people from taking part in your group's events and activities, or stop people being included when they experience a change of circumstance?

Gospel Choir Taster Session

GCGC has just celebrated its eleventh anniversary, a choir made up of men and women who love singing together.  With no audition or need to be able to read music, this choir is a wonderful way to meet new friends, learn and laugh.  Our amazing musical director, Hermione Thomas, is on maternity leave at present but is replaced by Marsha Morrison, Leader of Lewes Sings Gospel, member of the Kingdom Choir, and a skilled teacher and musician, and is accompanied on piano by Vaughan Larmond from The Kingdom Choir (they performed at Prince Harry and Megan's wedding).

Autumn Term

We will be studying two main pieces over the course of 10 weekly sessions.

Venue: Bow Road Methodist Church, 1 Merchant Street, Bow, London E3 4LY
