The Charity Commission recently released new draft guidance on social media use for charities and invites Charitable organisations, including leisure-time music groups, to respond to the consultation by 14 March.

The Charity Commission is seeking input from charities, trustees and the public to contribute to its new draft guidance, which aims to help trustees in their understanding of appropriate use of social media and developing their charity’s social media policy. The Commission welcomes insights on any improvements they can make to the proposed guidance.

Making Music is thrilled to announce the selected 2023 pairings for Adopt a Music Creator, the long-running new music creation project.

The Adopt a Music Creator project, formerly known as Adopt a Composer project, has inspired over 120 wide breadths of works and performances by music creators and leisure-time music groups since its beginning in 2000. The collaborative project is run by Making Music in partnership with Sound and Music, the national organisation for new music, and funded by the PRS Foundation and Philip and Dorothy Green Trust.

Our annual partnership with Classic FM has brought some incredible Christmas carols from our member groups.

It's a joy that our members are keeping this tradition alive. It's been a truly diverse mix of performances, from vocal to instrumental, from traditional to modern. 

Classic FM have selected five entries to broadcast in the lead-up to Christmas. With around 5.7m listeners, making it the biggest classical music radio station in the world, this is a fantastic opportunity for the world to hear our member groups at their best.

Royal Philharmonic Society invites the public to vote for a winner of its 2023 Inspiration Award from a shortlist that includes Making Music members. 

The annual Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Awards ‘celebrate the treasured role that classical music plays in our lives’ and recognises the finest musicians and creatives of our time.

Funding will enable thousands of UK lesiure-time music groups to benefit from increased support and advocacy.

Making Music is thrilled to have been awarded a grant from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. The award of £199,980 over three years will enable Making Music to offer even more services to its 4,000 member groups and empower them to advocate for their activity and the benefits of music making.
