Arts Council England (ACE) is consulting about its next 10-year strategy, due to run from 2020 to 2030. ACE is urging everyone – from organisations to individual artists to members of the public – to respond to the consultation by 23 September.

Making Music believe that ACE are serious about wanting to hear from as many people as possible, so we encourage you to submit a response.

The consultation questionnaire is long but you don't have to spend a long time responding – you can answer as few or as many questions as you like.

The stereotypical image of old men in blazers and ties singing traditional hymn tunes is one that many men’s choirs, including Wessex Male Choir (WMC), are working hard to dispel. David Langley, member of the Wessex Male Choir, discusses how the group is championing the relevance of male voice choir singing for the modern age.

The choir, formed in 2001, has won over 20 prizes in national and international competition, most recently, the Krakow International Choral Festival.

There have been some recent changes to making a Gift Aid claim. These changes shouldn't have a significant impact on your Gift Aid claims and admin processes, but are worth being aware of.

If you don’t currently claim Gift Aid for your group, it is worth looking into. UK charities can claim an extra 25p on every £1 donated by a UK taxpayer.

Les Goldman, Chair of the Two Rivers Concert Band shares his insight into their collaboration with composer James Banner.

On 29 June I attended my first rehearsal of our Adopt a Composer piece, 'Concertino for Concert Band' by James Banner. It prompted thoughts about some of the roles our band has played in the genesis of the piece and the roles we still have to play in the run up to our first performance planned for 6 October.
