The Stewkley Singers was established in 2006 and has, under the Musical Directorship of Jenny Morgan, grown to be an active and successful choral society based in North Buckinghamshire. The choir has a membership of around 60 and recent repertoire includes Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Brahms’ Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from September to June each year and perform two Christmas concerts (with piano accompaniment) and a Spring concert usually, but not exclusively, accompanied by an orchestra. Stewkley Singers is a friendly, sociable group and enjoys a “twinning” with a French choir, based in Alsace, who we hope to welcome to the UK again in June 2023. 

Choir Accompanist

The Tan House Singers, a 34-voice SATB non-auditioned, friendly choir based just west of Gloucester, are seeking an experienced accompanist to start in September 2021. We perform two or three concerts a year and host an annual Come and Sing event, and our repertoire ranges from early music to modern. We are looking for good keyboard and sight-reading skills in an imaginative accompanist who knows how to support singers and assist the director in the development of the choir. We rehearse between 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Monday evenings during school terms, but if Covid safety measures are still in place in September, rehearsal times might be reduced. Gotherington Singers, a well-established choir of female singers, is seeking to appoint an Accompanist/Deputy Musical Director to start in September 2021. We are looking for an experienced, committed, and enthusiastic accompanist to work with our Musical Director to take this friendly choir forward.

Bath Choral Society are looking for an Accompanist

This vacancy has now been filled. 

Bath Choral Society, an auditioned choir established in 1887, are looking for a new accompanist. The main function of the role is to play for Wednesday evening rehearsals, assisting the Musical Director in preparing the choir for performances. A suitable candidate may also as the need arises, be invited to play for concerts and to take rehearsals. A high level of pianistic skill is required, and a strong awareness of the musical needs of a choir.

Accompanist for SYV Junior/Training Choirs

REQUIREMENTS

  • Accompany and support the children’s choirs for one hour each Wednesday evening during the school year term - 4:45-5:45pm
  • Support the SYV Choir Director during rehearsals and be prepared to join in if required
  • Be available to accompany two annual evening performances in the all choir concerts (Dec/June) and prepared to support the SYV in any additional opportunities that may arise. (NB There are also dress rehearsals before concert)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Piano Accompanist

The Fellowship Singers of Shirley is a Community Choir based at St James’ Church House, Church Road, off the Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull. The choir rehearses on a Sunday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm but takes breaks for Christmas, Easter and over the Summer. The choir performs three concerts a year usually in March, June and at Christmas. The choir is of mixed ability but do perform music in four-part harmony. The type of music includes some classical, pop music, songs from the shows and folk songs.

Accompanist

Warton Show Chorus, a new group, require an accompanist with good sight-reading skills. This is a paid post and may be combined with accompanist to Lancashire Lads Gay Men's Chorus. The repertoire for both groups is songs from stage and screen and contemporary songs, so an interest in these areas would be advantageous.
