The Sir Charles Groves Prize, established in 1990, recognises the outstanding contribution that an individual or organisation has made to the musical life of the UK. The prize honours the remarkable contribution of Sir Charles to both amateur music, as a former president of Making Music, and to British musicianship and composition. It was launched to mark the renowned conductor's 75th birthday.
These awards celebrate the individuals from all walks of life volunteer for their music groups, giving up their time and energy to help the leisure-time music sector.
We celebrate their incredible contributions with either exceptional service to a Making Music member group or an outstanding effort to improve their environmental sustainability.

This prestigious prize, a certificate signed by Making Music's patron HRH the Duchess of Kent, is presented annually to individuals from a Making Music member group who have made an outstanding contribution to music in their community.
