There was no rest for Da Capo Alba after their busy summer touring Germany, with this Thursday seeing the world premiere of our new composition, Three Carriages, created as part of the Adopt a Composer project.

In September, Making Music hosted a symposium with key figures in the music sector to identify the barriers and needs of adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and how we can improve their access to music learning.

A wide range of individuals and organisations came together for the day, reflecting how important this discussion is right across the whole music sector. We were delighted to welcome attendees including organisations, businesses, educators, leisure-time music groups and more, which led to some fascinating discussions.

Adopt a Composer, the year-long project run by Making Music in partnership with Sound and Music, pairs leisure-time vocal and instrumental music groups with some of the UK’s most promising composers to work together to create a brand new piece of music.

Arts Council England (ACE) is consulting about its next 10-year strategy, due to run from 2020 to 2030. ACE is urging everyone – from organisations to individual artists to members of the public – to respond to the consultation by 23 September.

Making Music believe that ACE are serious about wanting to hear from as many people as possible, so we encourage you to submit a response.

The consultation questionnaire is long but you don't have to spend a long time responding – you can answer as few or as many questions as you like.
