Conductor/Music Director

Lancaster Singers, an auditioned mixed choir of some 50 voices with good sight-reading skills, and about to celebrate its 50th anniversary, seek a new Director of Music from the autumn of 2024.

The Hanover Choir, a small unauditioned chamber choir based in the City of London, is seeking a new enthusiastic and experienced Musical Director to take us on the next steps of our musical journey.

We rehearse on Thursday evenings for 11 or 12 weeks per term with 3 to 4 concerts per year. The Musical Director will both lead and accompany the choir at rehearsals, though a separate accompanist may be provided in the lead up to concerts.

We are a versatile choir of around 25 singers, singing mainly classical works as well as more contemporary music and are keen to embrace all styles and learn new music.

The choir’s aim is to develop musically with a challenging repertoire whilst enjoying singing more well-known and favourite pieces. We are adaptable - we welcome both accomplished singers and those who wish to increase their skills, and we are always looking to increase our membership. We aim for singing with the Hanover Choir to be stimulating, challenging and rewarding. Since we are a small choir, every voice matters.

The Hanover Choir is independent, is a registered charity and recently celebrated its 75th anniversary.  It is managed by a committee, elected by choir members, which usually meets once per term.

As well as our regular rehearsals and concerts we host a yearly Come and Sing event and a weekend away in September.

Deputy Musical Director

We are looking for an experienced musical director who has the enthusiasm and infectious energy to teach and inspire one of our amateur choirs based in Brackley (Northamptonshire). Our group of adult community choirs, www.gleeclubuk.com, are run by professional musicians and filled with people who love to sing. Starting from September 2024, we are currently running on a Thursday evening and you need to be able to commit to term-time, weekly 90-minute rehearsals with at least one performance per term.

A vacancy has occurred for an enthusiastic Choral Conductor for this 50 voice mixed choir.

Based in West Byfleet, Surrey, the Chorale rehearses on Monday evenings and performs three concerts a year using professional soloists and orchestras in a varied repertoire of sacred and secular works.

The Conductor/Musical Director will be required to:

Dynamic Musical Director sought for Rainbow Voices, Birmingham based LGBT+ community choir of around 40 voices, established 1995 and performing to a high standard. To start September 2024. Working closely with the Committee, the MD will select repertoire, plan, prepare and take Tuesday evening rehearsals and conduct 1 – 2 concerts and additional guest performances each year. £40 per hour for rehearsals plus enhanced rate for performances. We at the Anstruther Phil are losing our lovely conductor, George, for health reasons. We are looking for a musical director for rehearsals and two concerts a year (Xmas and Easter).  We meet in Pittenweem, Fife, for two terms - Sept to Dec and Jan to early April, on Tuesdays at 7 p m.  We perform in the East Neuk of Fife.

We have an experienced accompanist and an enthusiastic group of members.  They are mostly ageing, but we have recently attracted some younger singers and have also included some choristers from St Andrews University in our concerts.

Capital Chorus (capitalchorus.co.uk) is a small and friendly auditioned men’s barbershop chorus based in Ealing, West London. In our 40-year history, we have won several prizes including the best small chorus and the most entertaining chorus award at the British Association of Barbershop Singers’ annual convention. We sing at music festivals and events around the South East including the London Marathon, the Brighton Marathon and the Ideal Home Show, and we have appeared on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio London and national television.

National Youth Choir is delighted to invite submissions from experienced and exceptional choral directors interested in applying for the role of Principal Conductor of National Youth Choir (9-15 Years). We are looking for an outstanding choral director, who has significant experience of successfully developing and delivering exciting and inspirational choral training and performance programmes at the highest level, for and with young people.
